The Chamber has many committees to divide up the work and create opportunities for members and interested individuals to come together for the common good of the community. Anyone interested in helping with the committees should contact one of the officers or the chamber office.

Active Committees

Membership
This committee seeks out and welcomes new members, and works to maintain existing members. They have created a membership packet that outlines the benefits of Chamber membership in detail.

Chicken BBQ
The funds for our scholarships are generated by the Chicken BBQ. It was held on August 15, 2009 at the Milanof Schock Library (rear). See Projects Page for pictures. Next year it will be held on August 21, 2010.

Banquet Committee
Our Annual Banquet and Auction was held at The Gathering Place on Friday, March 5th. The auction brought in over $12,000 to be used for Chamber projects and scholarships. Everyone had a great time and you can view pictures on the "Projects" page. Next year's Banquet and Auction will be held on Friday, March 11th so be sure to join us. There are also two videos which show the members at the 2009 banquet and Senator Mike Brubaker's presentation to the Chamber for its 70th Anniversary. You can access them at http://www.aidemsolutions.com/mjcc/mikebrubaker and http://www.aidemsolutions.com/mjcc/birthday

Travel and Tourism
Responsible for promoting tourism in the Mount Joy area, this committee oversees several smaller groups.

Visitor's Center

The Chamber Office has been designated a Visitors Center by the PA Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau. Chamber members' information (flyers, brochures, business cards) is available for the visiting public. Map and Visitors Guide as well as other items are available to the visiting public.

Similar Interest Groups
We are working to establish similar interest groups, such as sole proprietors, new businesses, home-based business, etc.  These "chat-type" groups will give people a place to meet, discuss similar issues and help each other.

Special project committees are formed as they are needed.

Education

Seminars
The Chamber offers seminars to members on various topics. Previous seminars have covered customer service, hiring, interviewing and marketing. Seminars in the planning stage include employment legalities, and Microsoft Outlook as well as additional customer service and networking.
