Mount Joy Christmas Ornaments: A Look Back
As we get ready for 2026, it’s fun to look back at a cherished Mount Joy tradition—the Mount Joy Christmas Ornaments.
First sold in 1986, the ornaments were sponsored by the Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce to support the town’s holiday decorations. Over the years, they became a favorite collectible for residents and visitors alike. The proceeds from each ornament helped ensure that Mount Joy’s streets and public spaces were beautifully decorated for the season.
The ornaments were available at local merchants, many of whom remain Chamber members today, including:
Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc.
There were twelve ornaments in the set:
#1 – 1986 – The Good Ship Mount Joy
#2 – 1987 – Mount Joy Post Office
#3 – 1988 – Friendship Fire Co. No. 1 Station House
#4 – 1989 – Mount Joy Library
#5 – 1990 – Mount Joy High School
#6 – 1991 – Mount Joy R.R. Depot
#7 – 1992 – Macedonia AME Church

#9 – 1994 – Central Hotel
#10 – 1995 – Florin Grammar School
#11 – 1996 – Historic Main Street

These ornaments serve as a nostalgic reminder of the town’s history and the community spirit that has kept Mount Joy bright during the holiday season for decades.
