Business Description

The Rotary Club of Mount Joy and The Donegal Rotary Club recently sent eight Donegal High School Juniors to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference.

RYLA is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs in the local District where students develop leadership
skills while having fun and making connections.

The Rotary District 7390 conference this year was held at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA from June 9 through June 13. The students selected to represent the Donegal School District had a great opportunity to connect with community leaders and meet leaders from other high schools in the south central PA area.

According to the Rotary International website, RYLA activities are designed to develop skills in the students to enhance their leadership ability as just they enter their senior year of high school and begin their college careers. The goals include building communication and problem-solving skills; discovering  strategies for becoming a dynamic leader; and having fun while developing long-term relationships with other schools’ student

The students are encouraged to unlock their potential and find the ways to motivate peers into action. During the conference, they learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer
mentors as well as participate in hands-on activities to develop leadership techniques for a lifetime.
